Integrated

Therapy

Multi Modal

We do not believe in one single approach to healing, as we are multifaceted individuals, whose interrelation of parts and experiences make up the whole of who we are and how we view the world. Our therapeutic approach recognizes and treats a person’s affective, cognitive, behavioral, physiological, social, and spiritual frameworks to create an enhanced understanding of ourselves and deeper healing capacity.

Frameworks and Approach

Affective - the outward expression of our thoughts and emotions.

We will work together to identify what emotional expressions may be negatively impacting your life and identify where they are rooted. A deeper awareness of our emotions and more skillful emotional regulation leads to a greater sense of inner peace and more productive interpersonal connections.

Cognitive - our thought patterns and inward emotional responses.

We will aid you in identifying the inaccurate or distorted thought patterns and emotional responses that are barriers to your healing, and guide you in reshaping core beliefs into healthier and more adaptive thought patterns. When we reframe the way in which we inwardly speak to, and think about, ourselves, we dramatically improve both the way in which we view ourselves, but also how we view the world around us.

Behavioral - our outward behaviors.

Once we have the ability to identify self-destructive or unhealthy behaviors, we gain a greater awareness of how we outwardly react to our inner selves. This understanding then gives us the ability to change our dysfunctional behaviors, and adopt healthier and more productive behaviors that nurture our sense of self and our connection to the world.

Physiological - the mind-body connection.

Research has evidenced a strong connection between our emotional states and our body’s immune response and overall physical health. Healthier emotional states reduce pain and illness, whereas negative emotional states lower our immune response and increase symptoms of physical illness. Once we can identify the areas in our body that hold pain and discomfort, we can move it through and out of our body and calm our nervous system with relaxation techniques, deep breathing, and meditation exercises.

Social - our circle.

Our communities, families, and social networks have reinforced messages that instilled beliefs in us about who we are and how we should interact with the world around us. Sometimes those messages can inhibit us from feeling as though we are able to live a life that feels best suited to us, creating a space where we feel inauthentic and confined. We will work with you to identify the messages that you have received and internalized about yourself, and aid you in relinquishing the parts of you that do not serve you, and embrace and develop the parts that foster your most authentic self.

Spiritual - our soul.

There is a part of world and ourselves that is intangible and transcendental. We often find that it exists outside the realm of description and stirs the deepest parts of our soul. The way in which each of us connects with this might be different, but there is a commonality in the profoundness of it, and often times it is where our largest lessons and deepest connections are made. Whether we are moved to tears through our connection to nature’s awe inspiring force and beauty, or through our time spent with music that holds and understands us, through artistic expression that opens a channel to our flow state, our connection to a higher power, or in non-ordinary states of consciousness; what ignites our soul, leads us to understand ourselves and our world in life altering and affirming ways. We will work hand in hand with you in gaining a deeper understanding of what feeds your soul and explore ways to integrate your experiences with the transcendental into a richer and more meaningful existence.
